Eskaton is one of the largest non-profit providers of aging services in Northern California and we have been serving older adults in the region for over 55 years. Our organization offers stand-alone independent living, assisted living, and memory care communities, Life Plan Communities (CCRC, Continuing Care Retirement Community), affordable housing communities, home and community-based services, along with an array of education, social programs and resources to empower older adults to live well.
Who owns Eskaton?

Who is Eskaton’s CEO?
Sheri Peifer was named CEO and President of Eskaton in 2023. Peifer has been with Eskaton since 2005, previously serving as Chief Strategy Officer. She is a graduate of the LeadingAge Leadership Fellow program and serves as Chair of the LeadingAge California Board of Directors
How many Eskaton communities are there?
Eskaton is made up of 24 communities located throughout Northern California. Of those, 13 are Affordable Housing communities. Eskaton also offers home health services, along with an array of education, social programs and resources to empower older adults to live well.
Are pets allowed at Eskaton?
Yes, Eskaton is a pet-friendly community. Every community has pet-friendly walking paths, and some even have dog parks on campus!
How much does it cost to live at Eskaton?
Each Eskaton community offers a range of pricing based on factors such as location, size of accommodation, the level of care needed and the dining plan selected.
What is a Life Plan Community?
Life Plan Communities are vibrant, resort-style senior living campuses offering independent living, with the flexibility to access higher levels of care on-site if needed. Eskaton Village communities feature expansive, park-like settings, a wide range of recreational and leisure activities, engaging wellness programs and exceptional culinary services.
What is the difference between independent living, assisted living and memory care?
Independent living offers active seniors a maintenance-free lifestyle with amenities and social opportunities. Assisted living provides help with daily tasks like bathing and medication. Memory care is specialized for individuals with dementia or Alzheimer’s, featuring secure spaces, trained staff, and structured activities designed to support safety, cognition, and quality of life.
What kind of dining options are available?
Each Eskaton community has restaurant-style dining with a menu of nutritious staples in addition to daily rotating special menus. The inviting atmosphere of our dining rooms encourages socializing; while room service, private dining rooms and outdoor patio options allow for convenience and flexibility. Some communities also have a bistro on-site, for grab-and-go options.
Does Eskaton offer transportation services?
Yes. Eskaton residents are able to schedule appointments for transportation at no additional charge. Outside of these appointments, there are weekly scheduled group trips to popular nearby grocery stores, churches and rotating recreational outings.
Can I still maintain my independence in a senior living community?
Yes. Eskaton is designed to support your independence while providing the resources and services you may want as you age. As an independent living resident, you are free to come and go as you please, just like you would in your own home. You’ll have the freedom to make your own choices, pursue your hobbies, and maintain your daily routines, all within a safe and supportive environment. Many of our residents bring their own cars to drive themselves to appointments or outings and maintain an active social life in the community.
Assisted living residents are provided 24-hour care and assistance with daily activities, and are empowered to live life as independently as possible.
How do residents socialize and make new friends at Eskaton?
At Eskaton, new residents have plenty of opportunities to socialize and make new friends. Community areas like our dining and recreation hubs encourage casual interactions. Residents can also join clubs, attend events, and participate in support groups to foster connections and build lasting friendships.
Can family members visit?
Family members and friends are always welcome to visit Eskaton. We just require that all visitors sign in at the front desk.
