Kayoko (Kay) Sakaguchi, 82, has overcome many obstacles throughout her life starting with spending a portion of her childhood in a Japanese internment camp with her family. After facing many hardships there, her family later relocated to Japan, where she learned incredible life lessons from her parents that she still carries to this day, like the value of hard work, perseverance and determination. After high school, she moved to America where she was a dedicated and dependable employee for two companies for over 44 years. Kay then retired and moved into an Eskaton community, where she is actively involved and loved by everyone who has the pleasure of experiencing her warmth and infectious smile. For the past 16 years, Kay has also been volunteering at a local elementary school, earning the President’s Volunteer Service Award for her continued commitment. Her life has been marked by determination and strength, and a strong desire to become the best version of herself. She has no plans of slowing down and believes Age Is Beautiful means staying active, working hard and never losing sight of the joy in life.
