PACE Program
Eskaton and Adventist Health are joint venturing with a nationally-recognized PACE service provider, InnovAge.
InnovAge announced with Adventist Health and Eskaton their shared intent to partner in bringing a new Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) center to Sacramento, Calif. The program is scheduled to open on July 1, 2020.
InnovAge and Adventist Health are also exploring an expanded partnership to bring PACE to several other California communities. PACE is an alternative to nursing homes, designed to keep seniors living in their own homes and communities for as long as safely possible. Participants are primarily dually eligible for both Medicare and Medicaid.
In addition to its operations in four other states, InnovAge currently operates a PACE center in San Bernardino, Calif.
“For more than 20 years, PACE has been the core of our business,” said InnovAge CEO and President Maureen Hewitt. “Our passion and mission at InnovAge is to provide services to the most vulnerable seniors to help them age in their own homes with dignity. We look forward to collaborating with Adventist Health and Eskaton to bring PACE services to seniors in the Sacramento area, and we are excited to work with Adventist Health to reach more seniors throughout the state of California.”
According to the U.S. Census, by 2020, there will be nearly 14,000 low-income seniors in the Sacramento area who could qualify for PACE; statewide, this number is about 220,000.
“At Adventist Health, we see PACE as a unique and important strategy which can help us transform the health of our communities,” said Bill Wing, president of Adventist Health. “A comprehensive plan and coordinated approach to care for the frail elderly can improve independence, improve outcomes, relieve stress from family members, and reduce total community cost of care. We are thrilled to be partnering with InnovAge, a proven expert in coordinating this type of care, to bring this innovative service to our communities.”
“Eskaton is excited about being involved as a partner in bringing this new PACE center to Sacramento, serving our most vulnerable older adults and expanding our mission of enhancing lives through innovative health, housing, and social services,” said Todd Murch, president and CEO of Eskaton.
Since August, InnovAge has acquired four PACE facilities in Philadelphia, PA; and two in Virginia. The company serves more than 5,000 older adults with PACE and is the largest PACE provider in the U.S.
