TLC means Talking, Listening and Caring, which is what volunteers do every day when they call over 500 isolated older adults in the greater Sacramento area. The program provides free daily phone calls and weekly, bi-weekly or monthly home visits which provide much-needed social contact and serves as a check on their safety and welfare.

TLC staff and volunteers view the well-being of their participants as their number one priority. Referrals to community services are made when health or safety concerns are identified, and the team makes follow-up calls when volunteers are unable to reach their assigned participant. Attention to the welfare of the participating seniors enables them to feel more secure and frequently extends the amount of time that they are able to remain in their homes.

The TLC telephone reassurance program is a free community service of Eskaton. To participate in this program click here.
